1.Clogherhead Beach

Only 20 mins from The d Hotel, The fishing village of Clogherhead is so close enough to make it worth a day trip, but far enough to keep the crowds down.

Clogherhead beach is a relatively sheltered sandy stretch which is backed by mature dunes. These are protected under the EU Habitats Directive as they are home to many interesting species of flora and fauna.

As a Blue Flag winning beach there are good facilities and access here, and you can rest assured the water is clean and safe; Clogherhead beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer season plus it is home to an RNLI lifeboat.

There’s plenty to do at Clogerhead both on and off the water. The village is home to an Irish Sailing Association school and Outdoor Education Centre. It is also an attractive stretch of coast; from the headland there are panoramic views of Lambay Island to the south and the Mourne Mountains to the north

2. Bettystown Beach

Only 10 mins from The d Hotel, Bettystown beach is a stunning fine sandy beach perfect for swimming, walking and other activiities throughout the year. It is a long established seaside resort with a stretch of beach from Laytown to the mouth of the Boyne at Mornington. On the beach at Bettystown, one of Ireland's most notable historical finds was made. In 1850 a peasant woman claimed to have found the Tara Brooch in a box buried in the sand. The Tara Brooch is now on display in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.

3.Newgrange Farm

6. Irish Military War Museum

The Irish Military War Museum offers a fascinating insight into Irish participants’ involvement in both World War One and World War Two, as well as other military conflicts in world history

The museum recreates in stunning detail examples of trenches of World War One as well as displays of the highly motorized conflict that was World War Two. The Museum houses one of the finest collections of WW2 Allied and Axis vehicles and deactivated weapons ever assembled in Ireland.

13.Loughcrew Estate and Fairy Trail

Loughcrew Estate provides a fantastic day out for all the family in the heart of the Boyne Valley amid the rolling hills of Meath.  The historic grounds & gardens are perfect for the History buffs and tour groups.

Just some of the sites you will come across on the 2km looped walk are the Medieval Motte, the magnificent Yew Walk, and the foundations of the old Long House dating back to the early 1600's.  Make sure to read the interesting information boards and learn a little bit about the history of Loughcrew.

St. Oliver Plunkett's Family Church ruins can be found on the Estate.  It is said that the Plunkett family resided at Loughcrew and this is where the well-known Saint was born — Saint Oliver's head may be in Drogheda but his Spirit is in Loughcrew!

The kids can be tired out on Loughcrew Adventure Centre — conquer heights on the climbing wall or fly through the air on the zipline, ideal for kids 7 years+.  For the smaller ones, the Fairy Trail is the most magical few hours you can spend together.  Can you find all the Fairy homes?!
